Our Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) professionals provide a range of assurance and advisory services to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of internal audit functions, enterprise risk management programs, third-party relationships, regulatory compliance, governance and sustainability initiatives. We analyze and assess an organization's business strategies and related business processes and systems to help management understand and address business objectives, requirements, risks, controls, and improvement opportunities. Our professionals bring both deep technical and industry experience, allowing clients to strengthen their key governance, risk management and compliance efforts while optimizing business performance.

We are seeking an ESG Manager within the GRCS practice in the Toronto office. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on ESG and sustainability engagements in the realms of reporting, governance, internal audit, processes/controls and risk management with a variety of sectors and clients.

What you will do
  • Apply knowledge/experience in risk management, internal controls, internal audit and reporting
  • Apply understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., ISSB, SASB, OSFI B-15, etc.) and apply knowledge of risk management to those frameworks
  • Confidently engage with internal teams and with clients (e.g. presenting to management, internal presentations, leading client discussions and walkthroughs independently, etc.)
  • Interview clients and deliver detailed end-to-end process documentation
  • Identify key internal controls, observations and process improvement opportunities and develop and present deliverables to the client
  • Manage overall project management of ongoing engagements including timelines, budget, quality of deliverables and client relationship
  • Lead and deliver multiple simultaneous client engagements of varying size, scope and complexity
  • Engage with cross functional engagement teams comprised of diverse backgrounds and skill sets
  • Assist with business development efforts of proposals, marketing material, internal and external presentations
  • Delivering high quality work that is on time and in compliance with the Firm's quality standards
  • Report to the Senior Manager (GRCS, ESG) and Partner (GRCS, ESG)
What you bring to the role
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting / risk management / internal controls / sustainability reporting or similar field at a reputable organization
  • Understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks and ability to learn about varying frameworks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to combine both quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve sustainability-related business problems
  • Experience in effectively leading and managing a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Superior visualization and communication skills using PowerPoint and other MS Office tools
  • Flexible in their style and willing to learn new ways, methods and approaches
  • Ability to adapt methodologies and techniques to unique circumstances
  • Self-motivated and is willing to ask probing questions to uncover client opportunities
  • CPA or similar designation is preferred but not required
